Create an analytic rubric for this assignment, for grades 6-8: Argumentative essay: Should schools have a four-day week? 5 paragraphs, at least two cited sources. Criteria: - Claim - Evidence and citations - Reasoning - Organization - Conventions Use a 4-level scale. Write each descriptor so it's observable and specific, not "good" or "excellent". Present it as a table with criteria as rows. Then add a student-friendly version written as "I can" statements. I teach [Subject] to [Grade] at [School], a [public / private / charter] school. My class has [Number] students, including English learners and students with IEPs or 504 plans. Write at a reading level my students can handle, use clear headings and short paragraphs, and keep materials printable in black and white. Never invent student names, scores, diagnoses or personal details: use placeholders like [Student] where something is missing. Align to my state standards when I name them, and keep everything inclusive and age-appropriate.
